An Initiative of the Delaware Campaign for Achievement Now
Sponsored by Barclays Bank, Aprende Más is a website and awareness campaign designed to ensure that Spanish-speaking families in Delaware are not left behind in the education system as a result of COVID-19.
COVID-19 upended the education system with an unprecedented 52 million students forced to conduct schooling from their homes. The expectation is that the education system will enter a “new normal” phase after this pandemic where students will continue to learn in a hybrid environment that blends in-person and remote learning. However, in an education system that already has massive achievement gaps between black, Latino, and white students, it is likely that inequality will be severely exacerbated.
The Delaware Campaign for Achievement Now launched the Aprende Más campaign in September 2020 to provide timely information for Spanish-speaking families about COVID-19-related changes in the education system as well as a robust set of learning resources that supplement and complement learning at school. The Aprende Más initiative also includes a help desk and hotline that will allow Spanish-speaking families to get direct support as they navigate the new realities of education post-COVID-19.
